IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition will bring 5000 water professionals together to address global water challenges
Securing our water future will require innovation, new science and new technologies. It will require cooperation within the water sector, between the global and the local, to ensure best practices are shared and adopted. It will need the water sector to connect to other critical sectors to adapt water management rapidly enough to meet future challenges.

Ger Bergkamp, Executive Director of the International Water Association, said, “The lack of water security is one of the top global risks. A risk of high impact and high likelihood, effecting human health, environmental sustainability, global supply chains, regional stability and economic performance.
“The challenge for the water sector and water professionals is to turn this risk into an opportunity and create benefits well beyond the water sector. How we meet the needs and expectations of billions of global citizens by improving water availability and safety, will be central to the IWA World Water Congress and Exhibition”.

Addressing the challenge of ever-increasing demands and competition for water from cities, industries, power suppliers, farmers, nature and recreation, while mitigating the impact of climate change and variability, is at the heart of why 5000 water professionals from over 90 countries will gather at the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition (Lisbon, Portugal, 21-26 September).

The IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition (Lisbon, Portugal, 21-26 September) will be an agenda-setting meeting for the future of water through the full water cycle:

- Keynote speakers: thought leaders from within and beyond the water sector, will provide inspiration to spark the critical debates the water sector needs to address;
- Dynamic Forums: leaders from industry, government, utilities, regulators and science bring together current trends, latest research, guiding strategies, and leading practice;
- Thematic Tracks: bring science, technology and practice together to challenge current norms and inspire imaginative approaches, new paradigms and technologies;
